Bath is a unique, historic city in the South West of England, founded by the Romans around the only naturally occurring hot springs in the United Kingdom.

The city is a major centre for tourism, with over one million overnight visitors and 3.8 million day visitors coming each year, to enjoy attractions that include the Roman Baths, theatre, museums and the city’s Georgian architecture. Bath became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

Bath’s historic environment creates many challenges for movement around the city. Eight CIVITAS RENNAISSANCE measures in the City of Bath are being delivered by a broad range of partner organisations, including Bath & North East Somerset Council, the University of the West of England and private business.

The CIVITAS RENNAISSANCE measures for Bath are:

·        Alternative Fuels

·        Collective Transport

·        Freight Vehicle Demand Management

·        Mobility Management, Marketing Information and Education

·        Safe and Secure Infrastructure

·        Less Car Dependent, More Efficient Vehicles

·        Urban Freight

·        Innovative Telematic Systems
